Catahoula Recreation Off Road Park

Catahoula Recreation Off Road Park

Catahoula Recreation Off Road Park in Catahoula Parish near Sicily Island in central Louisiana stands apart from the coastal mud parks that define much of Louisiana's commercial OHV landscape: the park's terrain diversity — rock crawling, rock bouncing, steep technical climbs, deep woods single-track, and serious water crossings alongside conventional ATV and UTV trail riding — reflects the unique geology of the Sicily Island Hills, a cluster of upland terrain rising above the Red River floodplain in one of Louisiana's most geographically unusual landscapes. Sicily Island sits in the middle of the Mississippi Alluvial Valley on a formation of Pleistocene-era upland that never flooded during the Mississippi's alluvial deposition, creating a forested hill island surrounded by flat delta farmland — terrain with the erosion-carved gullies, exposed rock, and varied topography that makes genuine technical off-road riding possible in a state where most of the land is flat. The park accommodates the full technical vehicle spectrum: ATVs, side-by-sides, motorcycles, 4x4s, rock crawlers, and modified competition builds. Primitive camping is free; RV sites with hookups are available. Annual memberships run approximately $200 for unlimited weekend access. The park has established a regional reputation for hosting major events including the Spring Fling, drawing serious technical off-road enthusiasts from across the Gulf South (318-729-1538).

High Lifter Proving Grounds

High Lifter Proving Grounds

High Lifter Proving Grounds is a 574-acre commercial OHV park operated directly by High Lifter Products — the aftermarket manufacturer behind many of the industry's most recognized mud-riding lift kits, portals, and accessories — in Keithville, southwest of Shreveport in the Caddo-Desoto County area of northwestern Louisiana. The park's manufacturer backing is not incidental to its character: the Proving Grounds was built to do exactly what its name implies — stress-test machines, accessories, and rider capability in the kind of sustained mud-terrain environment that separates purpose-built equipment from stock builds. The 25+ miles of purpose-designed trails include engineered mud pits of calibrated depth and width, standing water ponds for submersion runs, motocross sections for high-speed skill testing, and looping trail corridors through the Louisiana bottomland forest that provide trail riding between the terrain features. Alternative go-around routes are included alongside the most extreme sections, making the park accessible to riders with less-modified stock vehicles who want to watch the serious builds in action without being stranded in conditions that exceed their machine's capability. Entry runs approximately $20/person. The High Lifter brand backing lends the park credibility and draw from across Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and the broader Gulf South — riders who follow the brand as customers come to the Proving Grounds to see the equipment in action (check website for current schedule).

Louisiana Mudfest

Louisiana Mudfest

Louisiana Mudfest is a 600+ acre ATV park and event venue in Grant Parish near Colfax, in central Louisiana approximately 25 miles north of Alexandria. The park operates year-round as both a riding facility and a major regional event host, combining everyday trail riding with a concert and festival program that sets it apart from purely trails-focused parks. The riding terrain encompasses deep woods single-track through pine and hardwood forest, open play areas, water crossings, and purpose-built mud bog sections. ATVs, UTVs, and side-by-sides are welcome on the trail system. Primitive camping and RV accommodations support multi-day visits. The event programming — weekend concerts, holiday gatherings, and special ride events — draws riders and non-riders alike from across central Louisiana, making Mudfest as much a social destination as a pure riding facility. Located near US-165 in Grant Parish, the park sits at the geographic center of Louisiana's OHV corridor, accessible from Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette within two to three hours.

Muddy Bottoms ATV Park

Muddy Bottoms ATV Park

Muddy Bottoms ATV & Recreation Park in Sarepta, Webster Parish, is one of the most celebrated ATV parks in the Gulf South — 5,000+ acres of Sabine River bottomland and upland forest in northwest Louisiana, approximately 30 miles north of Shreveport. The park has earned the informal title of 'the Disneyland of ATV parks' among the regional mud-riding community for the sheer scale and diversity of its terrain: hardwood bottomland swamps, open pasture play areas, engineered deep-water mud bogs, wooded single-track, and Sabine River access points. The scale means riders rarely see the same trail twice on consecutive visits, and the swamp character produces some of the most challenging deep-water and floating-mud crossings in the region. ATVs, UTVs, and side-by-sides are all welcome; the property is too wet and soft for conventional 4x4 trucks in most areas. On-site overnight accommodations include cabin rentals, a lodge, and developed RV sites with hookups alongside primitive camping. Muddy Bottoms hosts a full calendar of major events including concerts, bikini contests, and organized trail rides that draw thousands of riders from across Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and the entire Gulf South. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for event weekends.

Tower Trax ATV Park

Tower Trax ATV Park

Tower Trax ATV Recreation Park covers 2,600 acres in Tangipahoa Parish near Fluker, Louisiana, situated in the piney hills region of southeast Louisiana west of I-55 and approximately 60 miles north of New Orleans. The park occupies one of the few elevated, well-drained landforms in a region otherwise defined by swamp and coastal marsh, giving the trail system a distinct hill-and-hollow character that surprises riders expecting flat Gulf Coast terrain. Approximately 50+ miles of marked trails traverse pine and mixed-hardwood forest through rolling terrain with creek crossings, open meadow sections, and purpose-built mud bogs that capture the clay-heavy soil during wet months. ATVs and UTVs are the primary permitted vehicle type; the soft soils limit conventional 4x4 truck access to dry conditions. Primitive camping is available throughout the property. Tower Trax serves the New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Hammond-Covington corridor — the most densely populated stretch of Louisiana — as a primary off-road destination without requiring a long drive into north Louisiana. Event weekends and organized group rides are held throughout the year.
